Corinth Canal from Itea to Port of Athens
These pictures were taken going into and out of the Corinth canal in the Aegean Sea which cuts through a narrow Isthmus and considerably shortens the sea route to the Port of Athens. The canal was completed in 1893, is 4 miles in length and only 70 feet wide which limits its use mainly for tourist traffic. This being so the journey was fantastic, not only because of the setting sun and beautiful sunset in the west, but due to the rising moon in the east and the reflections of light off the water.
